Holly Hare
This painting is based on an albino hare, not the variable or mountain hare you find in Scotland that turns white.
They say, if you see a white hare it means luck just like a white rabbit.
The chance of seeing two albinos boxing would be unlikely but double the luck. In the harsh winter months hares can survive by eating holy as part of their winter diet. Holly is the eternity bush so you have luck and eternity in the picture.
‘Holly Hare’ finished the Seasonal Hare Series which led to the BBC making contact with Joanna inviting her to be a guest on the first series of BBC's Spring Watch in 2006 to explain why the hare was so popular.
