The original painting was produced for a show held at Joanna and husband David's home after their home was selected to appear in '25 Beautiful Homes'.

Spirit Lion was the hot favourite and the first painting to sell. The word 'spirit' is written discretely in the fur of the lion. White Lions are supposed to be the original of the lion species with centuries of myth associated with them.

In South Africa, they consider that the soul of the country will die out if the White Lions become extinct in the wild. Only ten White Lions remain in the wild today.
